Program Description

The minor in Spanish offers students a unique opportunity to learn, understand and appreciate aspects of real life in the context of the language and cultures of Spanishspeaking countries. The minor degree in Spanish helps students develop critical and communicative skills as well as inter/cultural competency. Our program allows students to combine a basic knowledge in Spanish with majors in other fields. Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world and the demand for bilingual speakers in the USA has been steadily growing. Our small classes are taught by experienced faculty, who are supportive of student needs. We use a variety of delivery methods: face-to-face, hybrid, online asynchronous, and synchronous. Our faculty are fully committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion. Inaddition to a rigorous academic curriculum, we extend learning opportunities into the community through internships, service-learning, and volunteer experiences. Various short and long-term study abroad opportunities in Spanish-speaking countries exist at SCSU.
