Professional Education Requirements SPED 203, CELD 200, SECD4020, SECD4520, SECD4130, SECD4620, SECD4710, SECD4230, SECD4430, SECD4810, SECD4970, SECD4920.
A state of Minnesota teaching license requires completion of the subject area major (above). completion of the professional Education Sequence, and passing grades.
Students are expected to earn at minimum a “C” in each Professional Education Sequence class. Grade of C- or lower will require a student to retake the course.
Electives (8 credits) select from BIOL 103, BIOL 262 or BIOL 312, AHS 278, STAT 239 or any 200-level or above BIOL course, or additional courses as approved by advisor.
Middle School Science minor (19 credits) Students who choose to do the Middle School Science Education minor will complete the course requirements for both the Grades 9-12 Life Science teaching license and the Grades 5-8 General Science teaching license. The Middle School Science Education minor is technically 35 credits, however because of double-counting only 19 additional credits are required for Life Science Education majors.
All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.
All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.
All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity.
