Degree Map

This is a recommended course sequence based on the current University Catalog for this degree and illustrates how the degree could be completed. Actual plans for individual students will vary based on transfer credits, semester start, advisor recommendations and academic needs.

Be Advised

1. Students must pass a portfolio review (benchmark) the semester after successful completion of Materials and Processes courses (Art 101, Art 110, ART 111, ART 120, ART 121). Students have two opportunities to pass the portfolio review.

2. Studio (9 credits) select at least 3 of the following courses: ART 311, ART 350, ART 360, ART 385.

3. New Media Electives (3 credits) complete any of the following courses: ART 381, 382, Art 383.

4. Graphic Design Elective (3 credits) complete any of the following courses: ART 220, ART 221.

5. Upper Division Art History (6 credits) complete at least 2 of the following courses: ART 433, ART 434, ART 435, ART 436, ART 437, ART 438, ART 439.

6. A State of Minnesota teaching license requires completion of the subject area major (above), completion of the Professional Education Sequence, and passing grades on the appropriate tests and assessment processes required by the State of Minnesota Department of Education.

7. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.

8. All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.

9. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity.

10. Apply for graduation one semester before you plan to graduate.
