Students must complete and pass the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam.
The School Counseling MS program requires a minimum of 61 credits to complete, meeting CACREP standards.

Be Advised
1. COUN 676 (3 credits): may be taken during the summer in Semester 1 or Semester 7.
2. CMHC 671 (3 credits): may be taken during the spring in Semester 6 or Semester 9.
3. Electives (6 credits): coursework or research which must be pre-approved by CMHC Advisor.
a. Elective courses may be taken any summer semester or during the fall/spring semester of the third year.
b. Students may complete optional elective courses above the 6-credit requirement.
4. CMHC 699 (0-6 credits): you may complete an optional research project as approved by your CMHC Advisor.
5. Full-licensure: An additional 2000 post-master’s degree supervised clinical contact hours in a clinical setting is required to complete the requirements for Professional Counseling licensure in the state of Minnesota.
6. The curriculum of CMHC is designed to satisfy both LPC and LPCC licensure requirements in Minnesota. More information can be found online at the BBHT (http://mn.gov/boards/behavioral-health/)
