Degree Map

This is a recommended course sequence based on the current University Catalog for this degree and illustrates how the degree could be completed. Actual plans for individual students will vary based on transfer credits, semester start, advisor recommendations and academic needs.

Be Advised

1. The Department offers these Goal Area courses and recommends them where practical:

a. Goal Area 3: ANTH 140

b. Goal Area 5: ANTH 130, ANTH 188

c. Goal Areas 5 and 8: ANTH 101 (also required for major), ANTH 175, ANTH 250 (also required for major)

d. Goal Area 10: ANTH 252

2. ANTH Electives: Select from non-required ANTH courses at the 200-level or above. No more than 6 credits may be taken at the 200 level. The following courses may be repeated in any combination up to 9 credits each, with different titles: (ANTH 390, ANTH 391, ANTH 392, ANTH 463).

3. Field School Sequence: All Anthropology students must take one field school sequence (12 credits total), either in archaeology or cultural anthropology. Archaeology field schools (ANTH 430 and ANTH 435) are offered in even-numbered Fall semesters; cultural anthropology field schools (ANTH 435 and ANTH 455) are offered in odd-numbered Fall semesters. Students must take ANTH 470 in the Spring semester immediately following completion of ANTH 430/435 or ANTH 450/455.

4. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.

5. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 30 credits in residence at SCSU.

6. All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.

7. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses with a minimum of 2.0 GPA AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity (three courses unless transfer student).

8. Apply for graduation one semester before you plan to graduate.
