Degree Concentration/Emphases (must select one)

Creative Media Production (CMP) Concentration (37-38 credits)

  • Concentration Courses (25 credits) take MCOM 320, MCOM 330, MCOM 335, MCOM 338, MCOM 420, MCOM 425, MCOM 430 (last semester), and MCOM 435.

  • Take an Upper Writing Course (3-4 credits): Select from MCOM 375 or ENGL 333 or ENGL 241

  • Electives (9 credits): select any courses in MCOM or FILM at the 300- and 400-level.

Journalism (J) Concentration (37-38 credits)

  • Concentration Courses (25 credits) take MCOM 320, MCOM 340, MCOM 342, MCOM 350, MCOM 405, MCOM 440, MCOM 442 (last semester), and MCOM 488

  • Take an Upper Writing Course (3-4 credits): Select from MCOM 375 or ENGL 333 or ENGL 241

  • Electives (9 credits): select any courses in MCOM or FILM at the 300- and 400-level.

Advertising & Public Relations (APR) Concentration (36 credits)

  • Concentration Courses (27 credits) take MCOM 355, MCOM 370, MCOM 380, MCOM 455, MCOM 460, MCOM 465, MCOM 480. and MCOM 496 (last semester)

  • Take an Upper Division Writing Course (3 credits): Select from MCOM 375

  • Electives (9 credits): select any courses in MCOM or FILM at the 300- and 400-level.

Be Advised

  1. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.

  2. All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.

  3. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity.

  4. Apply for graduation one semester before you plan to graduate.
