1. Internship or Additional Electives (6 credits)
a. Internship: To be eligible for HLTH 444, students must:
• Be admitted to the major
• Requires faculty permission to enroll
• Complete all coursework and HLTH 484
• Possess a 2.5 GPA in the Community Health major and a 2.5 GPA overall
• Submit the internship application forms by the deadline
• Have an approved internship site approved one semester prior to the internship
• Provide evidence of current CPR (infant, child, adult), First Aid, and AED certification
• Pass a criminal background check
Admission to the major does not guarantee admission to the required internship program. Special fees are
required for HLTH 444.
b. Additional Electives: Students may select from HLTH or related courses at the 300 level or higher. If completing additional electives in place of an internship, the additional electives must be approved by advisor.
2. All courses in the major require a grade of C- or higher except for HTLH 444.
3. Courses within the major must be taken for a letter grade except for Internships and Independent Studies. Students must take 15 credits of Community Health program requirements at SCSU (excluding HLTH 444: Internship: Undergraduate and independent study courses).
4. Additional transfer credits may be approved as electives with advisor permission.
5. Community Health Electives (Complete at least 2 courses with a grade of C- or higher): HLTH 412, ANTH 175, BIOL 362, CMST 461, CMTY 455, GERO 208, POL 380, PSY 345, PSY 492, SOC 375
6. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.
7. All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.
8. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity.
9. Apply for graduation one semester before you plan to graduate.
