Degree Map

This is a recommended course sequence based on the current University Catalog for this degree and illustrates how the degree could be completed. Actual plans for individual students will vary based on transfer credits, semester start, advisor recommendations and academic needs.

The degree map does not substitute for professional advising. Review your degree audit report and see your advisor each semester.

Be Advised

  1. To satisfy the upper division writing requirement, students must complete SCI 420 with a C or better.

  2. It's important to take AHS 305 and AHS 307 when indicated--these are only offered one time per year.  (If students find these courses closed at the time of registration, they should contact the department before looking for an alternative course.)

  3. Program Elective (5 credits) select from AHS 278, AHS 285, AHS 322, BIOL 414, or GEOG 272.

  4. Students are required to participate in a STEM Education Admissions Event to assess student skills in writing and oral communication as well as student dispositions.

  5. A State of Minnesota teaching license requires completion of the subject area major (above), completion of the Professional Education Sequence, and passing grades on the appropriate tests and assessment processes required by the State of Minnesota Department of Education.

  6. Students are expected to earn at minimum a “C” in each Professional Education Sequence class. Grade of C- or lower will require a student to retake the course.

  7. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.

  8. All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.

  9. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity.

  10. Apply for graduation one semester before you plan to graduate.
