Be Advised

  1. Professional Education Requirements SPED 203, CELD 200, SECD4020, SECD4520, SECD4130, SECD4620, SECD4710, SECD4230, SECD4430, SECD4810, SECD4970, SECD4920.

  2. A State of Minnesota teaching license requires completion of the subject area major (above), completion of the Professional Education Sequence, and passing grades on the appropriate tests and assessment processes required by the State of Minnesota Department of Education.

  3. Students are expected to earn at minimum a “C” in each Professional Education Sequence class. Grade of C- or lower will require a student to retake the course.

  4. If you are planning to seek professional licensure or certification outside of Minnesota it is important for you to know the specific requirements of the state in which you intend to apply for licensure or certification.

  5. Electives (8 credits) select from CHEM 310, CHEM 311, CHEM 480, CHEM 484, CHEM 489 -OR-Students who choose to do the Middle School Science minor will complete the course requirements for both the Grades 9-12 Chemistry teaching license and the Grades 5-8 General Science teaching license. The Middle School Science minor is technically 35 credits, however because of double-counting only 27 additional credits are required for Chemistry Education majors.

  6. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 120 credits to graduate.

  7. All SCSU students must have at least 40 credits of 300/400 level courses to graduate.

  8. All SCSU students must complete a minimum of 40 credits of Liberal Education courses AND meet the requirements of all 10 goal areas, including RIGR and Diversity.

  9. Apply for graduation one semester before you plan to graduate.
