Description

Theoretical foundations and pedagogical practices of multilingual writing (not limited to English) as it pertains to the teaching and learning of writing for academic purposes. Explores issues of teaching and learning to write in an additional language, particularly students with a SLIFE (Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education) background.

Curriculum foundations: teaching, curriculum and writing. 10% The role of grammar in multilingual writing. 10% The role and types of feedback in multilingual writing. 20% The role of vocabulary in multilingual writing. 10% Curriculum design: effective curricula, textbooks, and text to discourse. 10% How multilingual writing is assessed. 15% Academic integrity and multilingual writing. 15% The K-12 context with particular focus on SLIFE (Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education). 10%
