In a manner suitable for an upper-division course, evaluate the historical, geographical, cultural, social, political and economic development of Africans and their descendants in North America; beginning with the slavery practices in Africa, the development of slavery in America, the development of African American culture and community, struggles to overcome slavery, life in the generations following the abolition of slavery, and the struggle for civil rights and social equality.
