Description
Elementary education initial licensure program course with a focus on kindergarten and primary age children's literacy development. Assessments and instructional strategies for emergent and early learners that provide explicit instructional support for oral language development, phonological awareness, phonics, word analysis skills, reading and writing. We consider equity within literacy education and use inclusive strategies for multi-lingual and diverse learners.

Develop and teach an interactive read-aloud lesson, with discussion and language supports for English learners, that contributes to equity and inclusion in the classroom.

Develop and teach a word study/phonics lesson based on an emergent or early developmental stage of orthography.

Develop and teach a lesson that supports concepts of print, phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, phonics, alphabet recognition, and writing.

Develop and teach a small group reading lesson for different stages of development that includes support for decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
