Description: This course exposes students to an overview of the research process and its place in the social environment. This overview includes a critical examination of the philosophical foundations of the scientific process, specifically from the perspective of oppressed social groups. Students will learn research designs and techniques appropriate to field settings and useful for social groups not represented in the research process. Research literature focusing on minorities, women, and other social groups will be critically examined for underlying assumptions.
