Program Description

This program prepares students for careers as nuclear medicine technologists working directly with patients in nuclear medicine. They prepare and inject appropriate radio pharmaceuticals and operate sophisticated imaging cameras to gain unique structural and functional information about virtually every major organ system of the body. The curriculum includes coursework in general education, biology, chemistry, math, and physics, plus a year of clinical lectures and clinical laboratory experiences.

Notes

U.S. citizenship is required for all students in this major. This major requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 in order to graduate. Admission to the major does not guarantee admission to a required clinical program. Students may apply to the major program when their completed credits equal or exceed 24 credits, including course and course with an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher. At least eight credits must have been earned in residence at SCSU. Nuclear Medicine Technology students are not required to take course-Organismal Diversity as a prerequisite to course-Genetics.
