CJS 496. Crime Analysis, Mapping and Profiling

Description: Theory and application of spatial analysis techniques and mapping software for development of prevention, intervention and preparedness strategies relative to crime and homeland defense. Review of criminological theories; crime profiling of criminals and geography; role of the crime analyst; methodological, ethical and legal issues in crime mapping; and geographic information systems (GIS) software.
Prerequisites: CJS 111 and CJS 411 or CJS 433 or instructor permission
